We have produced clear guides as to how to use the Telephone Interpreting service and provided you with an authorisation (ID) code in order to access the service see the guide here specific to your service.
This guidance replaces any old guidance that you may have. It is recommended to laminate these guides.

NHS Fife has produced a multi fold pocket sized leaflet which patients can use to inform staff that they need an interpreter or communication support. The leaflet allows for the language to be identified, including BSL and also provides staff information on how to book/arrange an interpreter which the patient can present to the service. It also provides contact details of Deaf communication service which can provide additional support as well as interpreting for Deaf patients.
Patients who speak community languages and BSL have told us that a pocket sized or such like guide/language identifier would be helpful when using services, including urgent care etc. This development supports an outcome for a family and others who found it difficult during Covid to help staff identify their language needs.
The language identifier guide will help patients to tell staff which language support they require. It will also remind staff to record the communication needs on the patient records for future use.
It offers support numbers/contact details and help to contact other services out with NHS Fife such Deaf Communication Service, Fife Council. The guide will help patients and relatives to contact NHS Fife- via our text messaging service and email services.
