{"id":34,"date":"2024-05-01T16:51:51","date_gmt":"2024-05-01T15:51:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-ayrshire-arran\/nhs-ayrshire-arran\/pharmacy-services\/mat-standards\/"},"modified":"2024-05-14T19:22:40","modified_gmt":"2024-05-14T18:22:40","slug":"mat-standards","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-ayrshire-arran\/pages\/pharmacy-services\/mat-standards\/","title":{"rendered":"MAT standards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) standards: access, choice, support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Evidence-based standards to enable the consistent delivery of safe, accessible, high-quality drug treatment across Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021 1,330 people lost their lives to a drug-related death.&nbsp; Drug related deaths (DRDs) have increased in Scotland for eight out of the last nine years with a 250% increase in annual deaths since 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MAT standards define national standards for the consistent delivery of \u2018no barrier\u2019 medically assisted treatment in Scotland and are a guide to quality improvement in all aspects of the recovery-orientated system of care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the MAT standards is to reduce harm, prevent death and support recovery among people experiencing problematic drug use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Summary of the MAT Standards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>People have the option to start MAT from the same day of presentation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People are supported to make an informed choice on what medication to use for MAT and the most appropriate therapeutic dose.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People (in or out of drug treatment) at high risk of drug-related harm are identified, prioritised, contacted and offered support to commence or continue MAT or other treatment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People can access evidence-based harm reduction at the point of MAT delivery.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People receive support to remain in treatment for as long as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The system that provides MAT is psychologically-informed and underpinned by Core Behavioural and CBT Skills for Relapse Prevention and Recovery.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People have the option of MAT shared with Primary Care.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People have access to advocacy and support for housing, welfare and income needs from presentation to services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People with a dual diagnosis can receive mental health care at the point of MAT delivery.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People receive trauma informed care.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/medication-assisted-treatment-mat-standards-scotland-access-choice-support\/pages\/3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Summary of the standards &#8211; Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) standards: access, choice, support &#8211; gov.scot (www.gov.scot)<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"nhsuk-card__description\">Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) standards: access, choice, support Evidence-based standards to enable the consistent delivery of safe, accessible, high-quality drug [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":19,"menu_order":13,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-34","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-ayrshire-arran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/34","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-ayrshire-arran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-ayrshire-arran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-ayrshire-arran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-ayrshire-arran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=34"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-ayrshire-arran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/34\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":161,"href":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-ayrshire-arran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/34\/revisions\/161"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-ayrshire-arran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/19"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-ayrshire-arran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=34"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
