{"id":48,"date":"2024-05-15T11:09:56","date_gmt":"2024-05-15T10:09:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-fife\/nhs-borders\/covid\/covid-vaccinations\/"},"modified":"2024-05-15T12:06:41","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T11:06:41","slug":"covid-vaccinations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-fife\/pages\/covid\/covid-vaccinations\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID Vaccinations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">COVID Vaccination of Selected Patients via Community Pharmacy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>NHS Fife welcomes the involvement of Community Pharmacy in the vaccination of selected patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This service will be provided by 15 pharmacies who serve the target population<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The service level agreement can be found&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/media\/5563\/nhs-fife-community-pharmacy-covid-service-spec-2022-final.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can access the Covid Vaccination Webinar below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Covid Vaccination Webinar\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dh99J0pie4Y?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The PGD can be found&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/media\/5564\/pgd-291-comirnaty-covid-19-mrna-vaccine-v22-ref22-final-fillable.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Summary of service:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The SLA is effective from 6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0June\u00a02022 to 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0April 2023 and\u00a0participation\u00a0will be reviewed at that point<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u00a0pharmacy\u00a0contractor is\u00a0required to\u00a0assess\u00a0patient eligibility for the NHS Fife COVID vaccination service in accordance with the SLA, ensuring\u00a0that\u00a0vaccinations\u00a0offered\u00a0are provided in line\u00a0with Immunisation\u00a0against infectious\u00a0disease\u00a0(The Green\u00a0Book)\u00a0 and\u00a0will be responsible for the provision of immunisation advice (both written and verbal) to the patient<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>NHS COVID Vaccinations will be expected to be provided, as required, to eligible patients under the terms of the NHS Fife PGD for Comirnaty can be found<a href=\"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/media\/5564\/pgd-291-comirnaty-covid-19-mrna-vaccine-v22-ref22-final-fillable.pdf\">\u00a0here<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advertising and communications to the public for the COVID vaccination service will be made by NHS Scotland and NHS Fife.\u00a0\u00a0The patient priority criteria must be adhered to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All pharmacists delivering COVID vaccination must undertake immunisation training including anaphylaxis management, and this must be delivered by a recognised provider<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ordering and delivery of vaccines will be through National Procurement and placed by the board, one delivery of vaccine stock will be provided at the required stages of first, second and booster vaccination doses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recording of vaccination will be through the Vaccine Management Tool<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please ensure you familiarise yourself with the contents of the PGD, protocols and SPC information.\u00a0 Once you are satisfied you meet the requirements and are competent to work under the PGDs please ensure the relevant sections are signed and returned to <a href=\"mailto:fife.pgd@nhs.scot\">fife.pgd@nhs.scot<\/a>\u00a0 Retain a copy of the signed PGD in your pharmacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further education and information\u00a0on COVID vaccination and the NES resource on storage and handling of vaccine can be found on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/learn.nes.nhs.scot\/37676\">NES website<\/a>.\u00a0 It is possible to arrange face to face training with senior clinicians within the board, please contact <a href=\"mailto:fife.fifepharmacycommpharm@nhs.scot\">fife.fifepharmacycommpharm@nhs.scot<\/a> if you wish to organise this support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0Vaccination Management Tool (VMT)\u00a0will be used to record consent and vaccination of patients for the service.
