{"id":86,"date":"2024-05-15T11:09:56","date_gmt":"2024-05-15T10:09:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-fife\/nhs-borders\/addiction-services\/naloxone\/"},"modified":"2026-03-20T14:24:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T14:24:10","slug":"naloxone","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.communitypharmacy.scot.nhs.uk\/nhs-fife\/pages\/addiction-services\/naloxone\/","title":{"rendered":"Naloxone"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The aim of the Scottish Drug Death Taskforce, as published in their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/drugstaskforce.knowthescore.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/08\/Changing-Lives-updated-1.pdf\">report<\/a>&nbsp;in 2022, is for Scotland to have the most extensive naloxone network anywhere in the world. The ambition is that anyone who may come into contact with a person experiencing an opiate-based overdose should have access to, and have been trained on how to use, naloxone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Naloxone is a medication that can temporarily reverse the effects of opioid drugs like codeine, morphine, tramadol, fentanyl, heroin, methadone and buprenorphine. Most overdoses involve multiple substances.
