You MUST notify the Community Pharmacy Development Team of any instance where your pharmacy has to close, or is unable to open, as soon as it becomes apparent that pharmaceutical services will not be available for 15 minutes or more.
You can do this by submitting the Closure Template v2 by email to ggc.cpdevteam@nhs.scot or by phoning one of the numbers below:
- Mani Narwan: 0141-201-6046
- Bridie McCallum: 0141-201-6054
Please note: the CPDT office and mailbox are only manned during office hours (Mon-Thurs: 9.00am – 5.00pm; Fri: 9.00am – 4.00pm). Any notifications submitted outwith these times (including weekends) will not be communicated to the wider network, but will be recorded.
You should also make contact with the following:
(* If CP is an Out of Hours (OOH) pharmacy and the closure affects extended hours, please call: 0141–636-8412).
All closures (received during working hours) are reported to a broad range of partners in real time including (but not limited to) NHS 24, NHS OOH, ADRS, GPs therefore it is imperative quick action is taken.
We would strongly encourage you to display a closure notice in your pharmacy’s window or door to alert patients to the closure and making them aware of alternative pharmacies. You can download a template here.
We also recommend you display in your dispensary a handy list of telephone numbers the team should call in the event of an unexpected closure – please click here for template.
A ‘Pharmacy Closures Good Practice Guide’ (developed for ADRS patients) can be found here.
