Sharps Disposal Service
The Prescribed Sharps Disposal Service launched in Fife in February 2015 and is available from ALL community pharmacies in NHS Fife [not to be confused with the IEP service]. Prescribed sharps are used by anyone who needs to inject prescribed medication or who self tests with finger prick devices eg for blood sugar levels. The new service will enable safe and easy access to special sharps containers for patients to store the used sharps in their home before returning them to a pharmacy for safe disposal.

Patient Information
Sharps advice for patients who are shielding or self isolating due to illness
We are aware that some patients may be unable to bring their sharps to the pharmacy for disposal. During the Covid pandemic an advice leaflet for these patients has been created for these patients and can be distributed with new empty sharps bins or provided to patients/patient representatives who ask for advice on how to store sharps safely at home.
