NHS Highland Community Pharmacy Services support a diverse population across one of the most geographically varied health board areas in Scotland. Covering both remote and rural communities, including islands and sparsely populated regions, as well as more urban centres such as Inverness, community pharmacies play a vital role in ensuring equitable access to healthcare. Through close partnership with independent contractor pharmacies, the service enables delivery of essential and enhanced care, helping to meet the needs of local populations while addressing the unique challenges associated with distance, accessibility, and population distribution.
