Medicines Shortages

Medicines shortages can occur for a range of reasons, including manufacturing issues, supply chain disruption, and increased demand.

Community pharmacy teams play a key role in managing these challenges, working closely with prescribers and patients to ensure continuity of care and minimise disruption. Across NHS Highland, we are committed to supporting pharmacies with timely information, guidance, and practical solutions to help manage shortages safely and effectively, while maintaining a patient-centred approach to care.
