The PCR is a national system which provides registered Community Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians with the capability to record details of a patient’s care. It should be used to record:
PCR can be accessed from supported browsers on a PC and is also available on some mobile devices, but only via a secure SWAN connection. It only shows records for patients registered with that pharmacy, and does not show any patient records registered at any other community pharmacies. (The view will differ slightly between Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician profiles due to differing clinical responsibilities.)
There is also a useful 'Reports' tab inside PCR which is easy to use to identify all patients due/overdue for reviews of any service type.
Please see our NSS website here for more detailed information on what PCR is used for, what information and reports it holds, how to 'associate' with it every morning, how to log in, and how to use it (including the latest PCR User Guide):
PCR access request for new users:
If you want to request access, the PCR Application Form is here. Note that both Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians can apply for PCR access.
Password resets:
If you have had PCR access in the past but can't remember the password or haven't accessed it recently, don't worry - your access is still active but you will need a new temporary password. To get this, please call the ePharmacy Helpdesk on 0131 275 6600 (Mon to Fri).
Did you know the ePharmacy Helpdesk can help with a range of enquiries including SWAN network issues, electronic claiming, error messages, eSchedule queries and PCR password resets. You can find out more here:

Need to associate with PCR?
Your Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician (including locums and reliefs) should be 'associating' with PCR every morning to ensure it's ready for use during the day. Associating also helps display important system messages from IT.
Once downloaded, users should see this icon on their desktop and click it to start the association process for that day.
Need to log into PCR?
You can log in via this link:
