NHS Highland has a waiting list when it comes to new applications and we operate a first come first serve basis. Should you wish to discuss further regarding opening a new pharmacy, please get in touch with the Community Pharmacy Services Team via the following email: nhsh.cpsoffice@nhs.scot.
- Expression of Interest is received.
- Applicant confirms that they want to proceed with application and have secured a premises.
- Pre application meeting arranged.
- Joint Consultation meeting arranged and Joint Consultation is agreed.
- Joint consultation runs for 90 working days.
- Following completion of the Joint Consultation, the Applicant has 90 days in which to submit their application.
- Once the Board has received this, any missing information must be provided by the applicant within 5 working days.
- Within 10 working days the Board must invite representations from the APC, GP Sub Committee and any other pharmacy contractors in the boundary. They have 30 days from the notification of the application to respond.
- The PPC hearing is then arranged.
- The Decision of the PPC is notified to the Board within 10 working days of the hearing.
- Within 5 working days of being notified by the PPC, the Board must then notify the Applicant, Interested Parties of the decision.
- Any party may appeal within 21 days of being notified of the PPC’s decision.
- This is then forwarded to the National Appeal Panel for decision. Please note that any appeal made can delay proceedings and therefore this is not a quick process.
- The Board will endeavour to communicate any delays during the consultation period to all parties involved.
