Supporting safe, effective and efficient provision of palliative care in the community
A Palliative Care Resource Folder (purple cover) has been distributed to every community pharmacy in NHS Ayrshire & Arran. It contains detailed information to support the provision of palliative care from the pharmacy. A PDF version is available here: Palliative Care Resources Folder
Community Pharmacy Palliative Care Network
The Community Palliative Care network comprises 40 community pharmacies across Ayrshire and Arran, who have agreed to hold an agreed list of palliative medicines at all times. These community pharmacies can provide advice and support on palliative medicines to other pharmacists, GPs and District Nurses.

Just in Case (Anticipatory Prescribing)
The aim of this service is to support anticipatory prescribing and rapid access to medication by providing a Just In Case bag in the patient’s home containing the medicines that are most useful if there is a sudden deterioration in the patient’s condition.
