Closure Alert Process

If your pharmacy is unable to open, or has to close at some point during the day unexpectedly, you must alert the Heath Board.  To view the NHS Lothian process for an unscheduled closure click here.

To download the template for informing our NHS Lothian Contracts department (PCCT) of an unscheduled closure please click here.  You should e-mail all completed templates to PCCT at communitypharmacy.contract@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk

You should also display a closure poster in your pharmacy's window or door to inform customers of the closure and directing them to other nearby pharmacies.  To download a template for this poster, please click here.

We also recommend you display in your dispensary a handy list of telephone numbers the team should call in the event of an unexpected closure - please click here.

Please also put an autoreply message on your pharmacy's shared mailbox to alert senders that your pharmacy is closed so incoming emails are not being actioned - please see the quick guide on how to do this here.

COVID-19

NHS Lothian have developed a process which may help should your pharmacy experience staffing difficulties during the COVID pandemic.  Please ensure that you read each of these documents carefully and follow the steps set out before any request is made to the Board.
